I will be a Mac user

So, it’s finally happened. I ordered a Macbook Pro on Wednesday. I won’t get it for a little while, but I am quite excited, let me tell you. Also, I took advantage of the $200 off an iPod deal for college students to upgrade from my 20GB 3G iPod to a black 80GB video iPod. […]

New Computer

So, the time has come to seriously consider my next computer purchase. It will not happen until August at the earliest, but planning is important this time. Why, you ask? Well, I plan to build a desktop computer, and I am challenging, you, the readers of this blog (especially Sherm) to offer some input as […]

Linux

Evidently I’m using it again.
I’ve been running Ubuntu 6.10 (Edgy Eft) since last night, and things are looking pretty spiffy. Podcast/iPod support is much better than February, when I fled the penguin for Windows. It’s still not quite as good as iTunes, but it’s workable if it means no more Microsoft.
I do have one piece […]

Freaky live webcams

This is relatively old, but I caught it from dvorak.org/blog: do a Google search for the string “ViewerFrame?Mode=”.  What you see, among blog posts and such about this creepy trick, is a list of live webcams. Some brand of webcam must have the string as part of the URI for the controls, and voila — […]

sweeeeeeeeet

I’m getting one. It’s coming tomorrow.
Excellent.
Unfortunately, the 2GB SD card I ordered is coming from a different store, and it doesn’t look like it will be here ’til Friday. But you can all probably expect a few more pictures to be cropping up here and there (haha — I made a [bad] joke).

Shocking!

Microsoft is delaying the (consumer) release of Windows Vista! ($1 to dvorak.org/blog)
It is delayed until 2007 to work on overall quality, but especially security. Also,
Unlike the current Windows XP, there will be no versions designed specifically for advanced 64-bit computing, multimedia computers or Tablet PCs.

New Canadian Study contradicts RIAA propaganda

This is just what I always suspected:
In summary, CRIA’s (Canadian Record Industry Association) own research now concludes… that P2P users frequently try music on P2P services before they buy, that the largest P2P downloader demographic is also the largest music buying demographic, and that reduced purchasing has little to do with the availability of music […]

Windows

I think I’m going to go install it. Meh.
Later.

Spam. It’s what’s for dinner.

Or something like that.
We here at mkjanssen.com have had some comment spam problems lately. Nothing excessive. I probably shouldn’t even be complaining. But I bet I mark at least 5 comments per day as spam. The frustrating thing is that many of the spammers “names” are the same. One thing I liked about b2evolution was […]

Windows Vista: First-of-a-kind features?

Here is a link to the video mentioned in this week’s edition of TWiT.
It is an audio recording of one of Microsoft’s lackeys pointing out various “new” and “exciting” features coming in the next version of Windows, laid over top of a video which shows that the current Mac OS does, in fact, already have […]
