Two Q’s.
I PASSED!  I PASSED!  I PASSED!  I PASSED!  I PASSED!  I PASSED!  I PASSED!  I PASSED!  I PASSED!  I PASSED!  I PASSED!  I PASSED!  I PASSED!

Now I have to find an advisor/supervisor committee.

Grad school thus far

Well, since Mini insists, I suppose I’ll spare time for an update.
Life in Lincoln has been OK, aside from the random old woman who ran a red light and hit my car last week as I was making a left turn.  The accident was completely her fault, and she acknowledged that, which helps, but doesn’t […]

Grad school update

I received word approximately 37 minutes ago that I’ll be offered financial support at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
I don’t know if I’ll take this offer or not, but I am strongly considering it. I’ll be going down for their graduate recruitment weekend February 23-24 and will evaluate what I see.
But it’s nice to know that […]

Riemann Sphere

I learned about the Riemann Sphere tonight in Complex Analysis.
I like my classes this semester. That’s nice. Even Classical Mechanics might be OK.
I don’t know where I’m going to school yet next fall. For one, I’ve yet to hear anything official, and for another, I’m not sure whether I’d pick UNL or ISU were I […]

Summer fun

Contrary to popular belief (sherm), I have not dropped off the face of the earth — at least not quite. I’m living and working in Yellowstone National Park this summer. I’m cleaning hotels. Yes. Glamorous. But when I’m not working, I can enjoy the park.
Bottom line — internet access is intermittent at best. So don’t […]

…like rain

It’s raining right now. Pretty solidly, too. I got quite wet earlier, and would’ve been entirely drenched had it not been for Amy’s umbrella. Wonderful. Random thoughts….

Duh.
I really enjoy mathematics. Even though I’m currently frustrated by my algebra assignment, I know that it won’t last and that, one way or another, things will get figured […]

Culpepper = T.O.? or “Give me some sugar, baby!”

A nice comparison by someone who dealt with both of them in one way or another.
I went to Hench’s wedding on Friday. It was a really nice ceremony. I saw some Brassworks folks there (Paul Baumgart played his trumpet, and then Rick and his wife were there, as well as Jeff Kunkel) as well […]

Scholarship essay question

Last year, I successfully applied for a small scholarship from Prairiewave. I responded to a question that asked, “What one thing do you wish technology did for you that it doesn’t do today?” I said that I wished it would drive my car. Come to think of it, that’s a pretty odd answer, but I […]

Gotta love spring break

Hey all. Long time no blog.
Well, I’m in Pipestone currently, but leaving tonight.  I spent the majority of my break (thus far) in western South Dakota with Crusade. We skied at Terry Peak on Sunday and then did some service work in Mission, SD (near the Rosebud Sioux reservation) on Tuesday. It was a lot […]
